Annabel Cartwright has had a varied and fascinating science-based career since studying Mathematics and Electrical sciences at Cambridge. In the 1980s she founded a company with three friends which is now the leading supplier of 'motion capture' technology to Hollywood and the Computer Games industry (OMG plc). Most recently, she decided it is never too late to learn something new and has just graduated with a PhD in Astrophysics from Cardiff University. She is currently a part-time lecturer in computing, while applying for funding to continue her research into patterns in the universe and what they mean. She is married (to a Professor of Geophysics) with two daughters and a dog, and enjoys forcing them to visit castles.
