Jon studied Chemistry at The University of Hull from 1999 to 2006, and obtained his PhD in bio-inorganic chemistry in July 2006. After a period as a post-doctoral researcher at Hull, he moved to Cambridge to become a technical editor with the Royal Society of Chemistry. Jon harbours desires to break into science broadcasting and journalism and to spread the love of science.
"NESTA FameLab's a great opportunity to practise your presentation and communication skills - you'll get feedback from respected judges and get to watch how other people do it (and perhaps steal their ideas). It's a fun day (except waiting for the results), you'll meet lots of other like-minded people and walk away with a handful of good contacts to keep on discussing science after the day is done."
